Blissemas in July

I love Christmas so when Victoria suggested doing a blog post mid-year all about my favourite holiday for Blissemas in July I was definitely in.

My birthday’s on Christmas Eve so I have a special place in my heart for that time of year. It always conjures up cosy images of being inside by an open fires while the rain lashes down outside, snuggly jumpers (preferable with hot men in them ;) ) and the living room looking like Santa’s grotto. Oh yes, I go completely over the top when it comes to the decorating. I love the weekend in early December that we clear the whole day to make the house look festive. There’s nothing more exciting than stringing up way too may lights (can you have too many lights?!?) across every ceiling in the house and loading the Christmas tree with tinsel and sparkly baubles until it looks like an explosion in a tinsel factory. My lovely husband likes his tree a bit classier so I let him have his one in the conservatory and he themes the room in silver and gold. Me and the girls use every colour under the sun; the more the merrier!

Of course the other brilliant thing about Christmas is spending time with the ones you love. I’m lucky that I have a huge extended family so there are always loads of us getting together at some point over the holiday, either at mine, my brothers, my mum’s or my dad’s. I once had fourteen for lunch the same year that we redecorated the kitchen/dining room and we were up until 2 in the morning grouting tiles the day before Christmas Eve. It was chaos but it just isn’t the same without a whole gang of us, eating, drinking, spending half the day trying to get the kids toys out of the packaging and then doing Karaoke into the early hours.

*Sigh* now I feel all festive with nowhere to go. Mind you the weather at the moment is making it feel more like November so maybe Christmas is just around the corner after all.

I don’t have anything with a festive theme coming out at the moment but I’ll leave you with an excerpt from a story I started last year and never finished. If you like it perhaps I should finish it and see what happens :)

Love Lexie xx

It was Noelle’s turn to lock up so she took her time getting changed.  She was going straight out to a party and she wanted to remove all traces of Elf and attempt to look sexy again.  It was Christmas themed and she had considered going as an elf to save time but in the end she’d decided it would feel too much like work, so she’d gone for a sexy Mrs Christmas number, complete with stockings and suspenders and cute pants with fur trim.  She slipped her coat on over it and went out to check the grotto for any hideaways.  You’d be amazed how many teenagers thought it was funny to hide in Santa’s workshop after hours!

The light was still on inside the little house and Noelle walked from the start of the winter wonderland, checking all the areas.   As she came round the corner to where Santa’s chair was she jumped.  Santa was still there, minus the red coat, his tight white t-shirt clinging perfectly to his sexy body.  He looked up as she came in and grinned.  “Snap,” he said nodding at her outfit.

“You scared me,” Noelle gasped, “I wasn’t expecting anyone to still be in here.”

“I was waiting for you,” he said, “I thought you looked cute as an elf, but the Santa outfit is ever better!  Do you spend all your time dressed up as different Christmas people or is there a special occasion?”

Noelle laughed.  “A party,” she said, trying subtly to pull her little coat down over the tiny pants.

“Ah,” he said ruefully, “I was hoping you might come out with me for a drink, but if you’re busy…”

Noelle looked at his incredible body in that t-shirt and made a quick decision.  “I could be late,” she said, “it’s nothing special.”  She stepped towards him and he grinned, understanding her straight away. He stood up and pulled her into his arms. Noelle shivered as he slipped her coat off her shoulders, revealing the tiny scrap of costume that she was almost dressed in.

“Very sexy,” he murmured as his lips skated over her collar bone and down into her cleavage, “I like what you’ve done with the tinsel.”

Noelle blushed as he unwound it from her waist, revealing her stomach. He knelt in front of her and gently kissed all the way down to the top of her hotpants. She could feel his breath on her skin and the sharp scratch of his stubble as he nuzzled against her. She realised she was holding her breath, desperate for him to go lower.

I’m trying to visualize Christmas and snow and cold but it is hard to do with sweat pouring off your body. 105 in the shade and horrid humidity, stepping into the pool feels like a warm bath, aarrgh! A cold beer sitting in front of a fan in a wet swimsuit seems to be the only way to cool off. Just not conducive to Christmas thoughts.
