Today I am honoured to be joined by my buddy Victoria Blisse. Victoria is on a blog tour to promote her latest e-book Naughty Rendezvous, which is the first story in an amazing trilogy of saucy kink and romance. I wanted to know about the inspiration behind the story so I asked Victoria some questions about the book and then some random stuff about how she spends her time. So read on below to get inside the mind of the raunchy smut genius that is Victoria Blisse!
So, Victoria, Naughty Rendezvous is the first of three novellas, did you know when you first started writing it that it would be one of three?
Actually, I didn’t have a clue that it’d be anything more than a one off short story. Then I ‘finished’ Naughty Rendezvous my characters just wouldn’t shut up. So I had to keep on writing!
And where did the inspiration for the Rendezvous stories come from?
Good Question! I was inspired by a particular person in fact, a lovely American gent who’s since become one of my best friends! It was his voice and his demeanour which really got me thinking. I wanted to do an over the ocean story but I wanted it to be a bit different. That’s when Leanna became a single mum and everything went from there.
Your sexy lead male character is American, so do you have a favourite country when it comes to men?
I’m not very fussy, no, but I do love the American accent. Nicholas Cage could talk to me all day….and do other things to me all day too if he liked!!!!
Naughty Rendezvous mentions your favourite football team Manchester United, do you often draw on your own life and experiences in your writing?
Yes, I often do. If I mention football it is probably going to be Manchester United because as my team I know a fair bit about them. I’m not so knowledgeable about other teams. Characters are built up from personality traits and looks I’ve experienced in my life and my ladies are often as northern as I am!
The Rendezvous trilogy is BDSM, is that a genre you enjoy writing? Would you write more BDSM in the future?
I do enjoy a bit of BDSM. I always paddle in the shallow end of the fetish, just a little pain, some dominance and maybe some handcuffs or a blindfold. That’s the kind of level I’m comfortable with and my readers seem to like it too. It’s hot and kinky without getting to that ‘yeowch that must really hurt’ kind of stage! I would love to write more BDSM and I’m sure I probably will!
Following on from that, do you have a favourite genre of erotica?
I’m a fan of rubenesque, I like reading about ladies like me!
Your stories have quite a romantic side to them. Is it important for your erotica to have a “happily ever after”?
Oh yes, at least a ‘happily for now’ that looks like it leads to ‘ever after’ anyway. I write about wuv, two wuv…sorry, had a Princess Bride moment then! But I do like my characters to have a future together, awww.
Tell us, what are you reading at the moment and what do you have on your “to read” list?
I’m re-reading Jane Eyre at the moment. I love that book! My list of books to read is so long I’d need a whole other interview to mention them all in! I am looking forward to getting my hands on the latest Terry Pratchett book!
Who are your favourite erotic authors and why?
I’m a big fan of Justine Elyot, her characters are always so well-crafted and Portia Da Costa because her writing style is flowing and beautiful! Lucy Felthouse is a great Northern Bird writer like me and to be honest, I shouldn’t have started listing folks ‘cos I love loads and loads of authors and I can’t possibly list them all!
Where do you usually write? Do you have a special writing spot?
On my sofa in the living room with my lapdesk and laptop on my knee or you’ll find me ‘thumbing’ the odd chapter using my blackberry if I’m waiting for an appointment or something like that!
When you’ve finished writing for the day, what do you do to relax, or is writing your favourite way to unwind?
I do love to write, and if I don’t write I feel antsy and just not right but it’s not the only thing I do to unwind. I
love to bake and I love to sew, those things really help me feel relaxed!
Do you stick to a set schedule when you’re writing or do you jump on the computer whenever inspiration strikes?
I tend to write in a morning but only because that’s the quietest time in my day and I can concentrate best then. However I have no strict schedule, I’m not a scheduled kinda person!
How do you juggle looking after your family and home with finding time to write such fab stories?
Carefully. *LOL* To be honest I don’t think about it, I just do it. I fit the writing in where I can and I am always willing to drop it if my hubby or daughter needs me.
Finally, other than the absolutely fantastic Rendezvous trilogy, what else do you have in the pipeline for your readers?
Well, I’ve recently finished The Vampire’s Choice book 3 in the Point Vamp series, I hope to submit that very soon and I am writing the Second book in my Djinn’s Amulet series, called Bollywood Nightmare. Also I am happy to announce I have a Christmas story out soon. I love Christmas, and this year my story is called Always Christmas in Lincoln, in fact folks can pre-order it now. It’s hot sexy fun with lashings of cute penguins, snowmen and santas!
